Planning your trip

Khao Sok itinerary

Two, three and four-day plans built backwards from the schedule that actually exists — with what each one costs, per person, before you ask.

Three of our five days run on fixed weekdays. That means the week decides your itinerary, not the other way round.

The lake day runs every morning. The elephants run Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday. The village afternoon runs Monday and Thursday. The trek runs Tuesday and Friday. The sunrise boat runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Plan backwards from that and everything else falls into place.

All five, with real dates and prices

Per person, minimum two guests. Hotel pick-up both ways, a local guide, meals as listed, drinking water and insurance are included. The national park fee — 340 THB per adult, 170 THB per child — is cash at the gate, and it is the only thing we cannot collect for you. How the fee works.

Prices are per person and our minimum is two guests. Pick your month with the › arrow, choose a date, and the total for your group shows before you pay.

Travelling alone, want a date that is not showing, or not sure which day suits you? We would rather answer the question than have you guess.

Most Khao Sok itineraries you will find are written by someone who spent two nights here. They read like a wish list: lake, elephants, trek, sunrise, cave, night safari — in that order, as though the order were yours to choose.

It is not. We run five experiences and three of them only happen on set days. Put them in the wrong sequence and you will spend an afternoon in a van crossing the forty-five minutes between the two halves of Khao Sok, or arrive on a Monday to find the sunrise boat does not run again until Friday.

So this page does it the other way round. Here is the week as it actually is, then the plans that fit inside it.

Prices are per person in THB. Minimum two people per booking, never more than fifteen on a day, minimum age five, under-18s with an adult. The three days that go inside the national park — the lake day, the sunrise boat and the trek — add 340 THB per adult and 170 per child, cash at the gate.

Two rules the schedule creates

Only one pairing fits in a single day. The sunrise boat is back on land at 08:30; the elephant afternoon starts at 12:00. Those two work together, and they only overlap on a Saturday or a Sunday. Everything else either clashes on the clock or puts you on the wrong side of the mountain at midday. In particular, do not book the sunrise boat and the lake day on the same morning — on paper the times allow it, but it is five hours on the same water in the same boat before lunch, and the second one stops landing.

The sunrise boat only collects guests already on the Cheowlan side. It leaves at 06:30 from the lake. If you are sleeping in Khao Sok town, forty-five minutes away, there is no version of that morning that works. This is the single fact that should decide where you book your room, and it is why every plan below that includes the sunrise starts on the Cheowlan side.

Two days — enough to know what you missed

The lake day plus whichever fixed-weekday experience your dates land on. It is the shortest trip we would call worth the journey, and it works on any arrival day, because the lake runs every morning.

Arriving Sunday, Wednesday or Saturday

Day one: the elephants, 12:00 to 18:30. Day two: the full day on the lake.

11,700 THB per adult · 8,800 per child

Plus 340 / 170 park fee for the lake day. The dearest two-day pairing, and the one most people would choose again.

Arriving Monday or Thursday

Day one: the village afternoon, 12:00 to 18:30. Day two: the full day on the lake.

9,700 THB per adult · 7,300 per child

Plus 340 / 170 park fee for the lake day. Both days are on the Cheowlan side, so you never cross the mountain.

Arriving Tuesday or Friday

Day one: the trek and tubing, 09:30 to 17:30. Day two: the full day on the lake.

9,700 THB per adult · 7,300 per child

Plus 680 / 340 in park fees — both of these days go inside the park.

Three days — both halves of Khao Sok

The strongest three-day trip starts on a Saturday, because Saturday is one of only two days where a morning and an afternoon experience fit together. Four experiences in three days:

Saturday

Sunrise boat at 06:30, back on land by 08:30. Breakfast. Then the elephant afternoon from 12:00 — food preparation, walking with them, the river, and a Thai kitchen in a valley at four o’clock. Home by 18:30.

Sunday

The full day on the lake. Longtail boat through the limestone, the cave, lunch on a raft house, an afternoon in water the colour of a photograph nobody believes.

Monday

The village afternoon. Bamboo raft, the turtle forest, and the sunset from the water. The gentlest of the five and the one people are most surprised by.

20,100 THB per adult · 15,100 per child, plus 680 / 340 in national park fees for the sunrise and lake days.

Sunday works almost as well: sunrise and elephants on the Sunday, the village day on the Monday, the trek on the Tuesday. That version costs 22,200 per adult but leaves out the lake, so most people prefer the Saturday shape.

Four days — all five, and time to sit down

Four days fits everything we run. Starting Saturday:

Saturday

Sunrise boat, then the elephants.

Sunday

The full day on the lake.

Monday

The village afternoon — which means the morning is yours.

Tuesday

The trek and tubing, the only one of the five that is properly physical.

26,000 THB per adult · 19,500 per child, plus 1,020 / 510 in national park fees. That is every experience we run, over four days, with two unscheduled mornings inside it.

If you cannot start on a Saturday

Most people cannot. Here is what a four-day window holds, depending on the day you arrive.

ArriveWhat the four days can holdAll five?
SaturdaySunrise + elephants, lake, village, trekYes
SundaySunrise + elephants, village, trek, lakeYes
WednesdayLake, village, trek, then sunrise + elephants on the SaturdayYes
ThursdayVillage, trek, sunrise + elephants, lakeYes
FridayTrek, sunrise + elephants, lake, villageYes
MondayVillage, trek, elephants, lakeNo — no sunrise
TuesdayTrek, elephants, village, then sunrise or lakeNo — not both

Two windows cannot hold all five. Monday to Thursday contains no day the sunrise boat runs at all. Tuesday to Friday has exactly one — the Friday — and spending it on the sunrise costs you the lake day, because those two cannot share a morning and there is no fifth day left to move one to.

What these numbers include, and what they do not

The prices are per person and cover the guide, the boat or the vehicle, the meals each day includes, and insurance. There is no booking fee and no service charge on top.

The one thing they do not cover is the national park entrance fee: 340 THB per adult, 170 per child, in cash at the gate. It is collected by the national park, not by us, and there is no card machine there. It applies on the lake day, the sunrise boat and the trek. It does not apply to the elephants or the village afternoon.

So the four-day trip that fits everything is 26,000 THB per adult in experiences and 1,020 THB in fees, and nothing else. Rooms, flights and the food you eat in the evening are yours.

The order to book in

Book the fixed-weekday days first. The elephants run three days a week, the village afternoon two, the trek two — and when a day fills, the week does not offer a second one. The lake day runs every morning, so it is the piece you slot in last, around whatever the fixed days leave.

The calendar shows what is genuinely open on your dates rather than what should be.

Still deciding how long to stay? How many days you need in Khao Sok answers it properly. If you are choosing when to come, the rainfall month by month is on the best time to visit. If you are weighing a day trip against a night here, day trip or overnight is the honest version. And things to do in Khao Sok describes each of the five days properly, and what a day actually costs breaks every price down with the park fee separated out.

Questions people ask before they book

How many days do I need in Khao Sok?

Three is the honest answer. Two gets you the lake and one other thing, which is enough to know what you missed. Three gets you both halves of Khao Sok and a morning that is not scheduled. Four fits all five of our experiences with room to breathe.

Can I do all five experiences in one trip?

Yes, in four days, and it costs 26,000 THB per adult plus 1,020 THB of national park fees. But the four days have to include a Saturday or a Sunday, because that is the only time the sunrise boat and the elephant afternoon land on the same day.

Which day of the week should I arrive?

Saturday or Sunday. Three of our five days run on fixed weekdays, and a Saturday or Sunday start is the only one that lets you pair the sunrise boat with an afternoon and still reach the village day and the trek before you leave. Arriving on a Monday is the weakest start: the sunrise boat does not run again until Friday.

Can I do two experiences in the same day?

One pairing works: the sunrise boat, which is back on land by 08:30, followed by the elephant afternoon that starts at 12:00. That is only possible on a Saturday or a Sunday. Everything else on our schedule either overlaps or leaves you moving between the two sides of Khao Sok in the middle of the day.

What does a three-day Khao Sok itinerary cost?

Our Saturday-start three-day plan is 20,100 THB per adult and 15,100 THB per child aged 5 to 11, for four experiences across three days. Add 680 THB per adult and 340 per child in national park fees, paid in cash at the gate.

Do I have to book the fixed-weekday days in advance?

Yes. The elephants run three days a week, the village afternoon two, the trek two. They fill, and when they are gone the week has no second slot. The lake day runs every morning, so it is the one you can add late. Book the fixed days first and fit the lake around them.

Can I stay on one side of Khao Sok for the whole trip?

On the Cheowlan side, almost. The lake day, the sunrise boat and the village afternoon are all there, which is three experiences without crossing the mountain. The elephants and the trek are on the Khao Sok town side, forty-five minutes away. The reverse does not work: the sunrise boat only collects guests already sleeping on the Cheowlan side.

What if my dates do not fit any of these plans?

Most do not, and that is fine. The plans here are the strongest versions, not the only ones. Open the calendar with your real dates and it shows what actually runs while you are here. If it looks thin, message us before you book and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth the days.

Travelling solo? Our minimum is two guests per booking. Book two seats — the guide, the pick-up and the day are the same for one or two — and the day runs for you as it does for everyone.
