Cheow Lan Lake · Khao Sok National Park
Five signature experiences
Three experiences rotate on a set weekly schedule — the same weekday always runs the same experience. The Cheowlan Everyone Dreams Of is offered every day, and Before the World Wakes runs Friday to Sunday.
Everything that makes Cheowlan unforgettable.
The way to truly know Khao Sok.
Beyond the lake, life continues.
Every step earns a better story.
The lake before anyone else arrives.
Cheowlan · Every day
Cheowlan · Every day · 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Everything that makes Cheowlan unforgettable.
Step into the Cheowlan you’ve always imagined. Emerald water that doesn’t look real until you’re on it. Limestone cliffs rising straight from the lake. Hidden caves, quiet viewpoints, and the kind of light that makes everyone go quiet.
This is the lake people picture before they arrive — and somehow, more beautiful in person. If it’s your first time on Cheowlan, begin here.
The Cheowlan on every postcard, and the reason the postcards exist.

Your Day
9:30 AM
A long-tail boat glides out across the lake, limestone cliffs rising on every side. The engine is loud, and then it isn’t.
11:00 AM
The shapes everyone recognises before they know their names, a cool cave that holds the quiet, and a gentle walk into the forest.
12:45 PM
Lunch on a floating raft house. Swim off the edge, take a kayak out, or simply sit and watch the lake do nothing at all.
We’ve taken care of…
Hotel pick-up & drop-off (Khao Sok & Cheowlan areas) · Long-tail boat · Local English-speaking guide · Lunch · Drinking water · Insurance
Not included: Khao Sok National Park entrance fee — 340 THB per adult, 170 THB per child, paid in cash at the park. Please bring cash on the day.
Bring
Hat · Sandals · Swimsuit · Sunscreen · Camera
You’ll leave with…
The reason everyone talks about this lake.
Khao Sok · Afternoon
Khao Sok · Afternoon · 12:00 PM – 6:30 PM
The way to truly know Khao Sok.
This isn’t an elephant experience, and it isn’t a cooking class. It’s an afternoon inside the way Khao Sok has always lived.
You’ll spend the time the keepers actually spend — pounding vitamin balls by hand and feeding them to the elephants, walking with them to the river, and turning what they leave behind into paper you make yourself. Never ridden, never chained, alongside people who know each one by name. Then you’ll follow a small road to a kitchen that sits alone in the mountains, wrapped in the garden that feeds it.
The rare kind of day where you don’t feel like a guest. You feel like you were let in.

Your Day
12:00 PM
We collect you from your hotel and follow the road up into Khao Sok, where the valleys open and the air changes.
1:30 PM
Roll their food by hand, feed them, and watch them cool off in the river. No riding, ever — just an unhurried hour in their company, on their terms.
3:30 PM
A kitchen wrapped in its own garden. Pick what you need from the beds around you and cook it the old way — stone mortar, clay pot, open fire — the way it’s been done here for generations.
We’ve taken care of…
Hotel pick-up & drop-off · Local English-speaking guide · Ethical elephant experience · Southern Thai cooking · Dinner · Drinking water · Insurance
Bring
Comfortable shoes · Clothes you don’t mind getting muddy · Sunscreen · Camera
You’ll leave with…
An afternoon that feels less like a tour and more like being let in.
Cheowlan · Mon & Thu
Cheowlan · Mon & Thu · 12:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Beyond the lake, life continues.
Most people only ever see Cheowlan from the water. This is the experience that shows you everything around it.
You’ll start the way the village eats — lunch laid out on banana leaves, shared at a long table. Then you’ll drift the village rivers by bamboo raft: not routes built for visitors, but the everyday waterways of the village that moved here when the dam filled and Cheowlan was born. And then, the forest — part of one of the oldest rainforests on Earth, an ecosystem that has run unbroken for longer than the Amazon.
The lake has a life well beyond its shoreline.

Your Day
12:00 PM
A steel suspension bridge the villagers built to cross between two homes — still standing, still used, and quietly beautiful.
1:30 PM
Drift by bamboo raft through a village that moved here when the lake was born. You might pass someone bathing at the water’s edge. This is simply their afternoon.
2:30 PM
Southern Thai food served in local tableware and local recipes, made gentle for guests from further away.
4:00 PM
Thousand-year-old trees, caves that hold the cool, light falling through the canopy, and a viewpoint where the whole of Cheowlan opens up beneath you.
We’ve taken care of…

Bring
Hat · Walking shoes · Sunscreen · Camera · Swimwear & a change of clothes if you’d like to swim during the raft ride
You’ll leave with…

Khao Sok · Full day
Khao Sok · Full day · 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Every step earns a better story.
This is our most demanding day, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Three kilometres in, three back — but what’s in between is why people come.
Waterfalls and a river that stops you where you stand. Monkeys overhead, and on the lucky days, elephants in the distance. Deep in, a wooden hut sits right on the riverbank, and you’ll cook there the way trekkers always have — bamboo, fire, and not much else.
This isn’t luxury. It’s the rainforest at its most rewarding.

A guided trek deep into Khao Sok — three kilometres in, past waterfalls, wildlife and streams you’re meant to get into.
1:00 PM
A wooden hut right on the water, where you’ll cook in bamboo over fire — simple, earned, and better for it.
3:30 PM
Tube gently back down the Khao Sok river, tired in the best way, letting the current carry the day home.

Not included: Khao Sok National Park entrance fee — 340 THB per adult, 170 THB per child, paid in cash at the park. Please bring cash on the day.
Bring
Trekking shoes · Swimwear · Quick-dry clothes · Sunscreen · Waterproof phone pouch
You’ll leave with…
Wet shoes, tired legs, and the best story of your trip.
Cheowlan · A special morning
Cheowlan · Fri–Sun · 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
The lake before anyone else arrives.
The lake is completely still. Mist moves across the limestone. First light changes the whole landscape, minute by minute — and there isn’t another boat in sight.
This is Cheowlan for an hour, entirely your own. Offered on its own, apart from the signature experiences — a quiet morning for anyone already staying near the lake.
One thing worth knowing: if you’re also booking The Cheowlan Everyone Dreams Of, choose a different day for it. Both are boat mornings on the same water — back to back, they start to feel like the same trip twice.
Glide across a silent lake, when Cheowlan feels entirely your own.

The weekly schedule
Life Around Cheowlan — Cheowlan, afternoon
The Khao Sok Way — Khao Sok, afternoon
The Khao Sok Adventure Worth Taking — Khao Sok, full day
Two standing add-ons run alongside the weekly schedule:
The Cheowlan Everyone Dreams Of, every day, and
Before the World Wakes, Friday to Sunday mornings. Message us to add either to your stay — just not both on the same day, since they're both boat mornings on the same water.
Khao Sok or Cheowlan? Two worlds, one park
Most travellers don’t realise these are two different places until they arrive. Khao Sok is the jungle river town — cafés, night market, limestone cliffs above the rooftops. Cheowlan is the lake — raft houses floating on green water, reached only by boat. They sit about an hour apart, and you don’t need to choose both: stay in one, and we collect you from your hotel for every experience.

You wake in a town that lives along a river — walk to breakfast, cliffs overhead, jungle at the edge of everything. Evenings have cafés, a night market, other travellers to talk to.
Feels like: a small town wrapped in rainforest.
Best if you like having life outside your door.
You sleep on the water itself — a raft house that moves gently all night, mountains rising straight out of the lake, stars with no town light anywhere. Mornings start with mist instead of traffic.
Feels like: the edge of the world, in a good way.
Best if you came for quiet and the water.
Whichever you choose, every experience collects you from your hotel — the only one that asks where you sleep is Before the World Wakes, our dawn boat, which is for guests staying on the Cheowlan side. And when a day takes you across to the other zone, the hour in between is part of it: limestone walls, rubber plantations, fruit stands, the road unwinding between two different worlds.
Getting here
Wherever you’re coming from — an island ferry, a beach town, a red-eye into Surat Thani — we’ll have a driver waiting with your name. Private vehicle, air-conditioned, no shared stops. The road in passes limestone walls, rubber plantations and fruit stands; most guests say it’s when Thailand starts to slow down.

Between the two zones
Prices are per private vehicle, one way — not per person — in THB, to either the Khao Sok or Cheowlan side, whichever you’re staying on. The car seats up to 4 guests; the van seats up to 12 with luggage — the more of you there are, the less it costs each. Please book at least a day ahead, and earlier for dawn or late-night arrivals.
